Grandson Sonny Giuseppe Lodato sings of our departure. Destination: Port St. Louis du Rhone

Dry dock at Port Saint Louis
Anna recorded Sonny's version of the first song of Demodocus.  It seems appropriate as we leave Troy bound for Ithaka.  Woops.  I mean to say... approach our departure for Paris on 30 April. On May 2 we board the TGV, a 216 mph train, to Arles where Eric & Martha will meet us.  The boat will launch on Monday May 5.  Eric says our initial destination is Porquerolles, the largest of the Hyeres Islands.  OK!  I'm liking this already.
Porquerolles - Le Raz dela Merciere will undergo sea trials for  a day or so.

    1. Wasn't that Peter, Paul & Mary? I think it was Denver who flew his Piper Cub into the Pacific.

  4. After close to a 24 hour door to door trip it's hard for me to imagine how there is anyone, and word is there are plenty, who would wish to take the Mars trip NASA has in mind.

  5. Hey, I hope you're settling in. Say Hello to Eric and Martha for me. And remember, this trip is partially sponsored by my selfless act… I want a present! :-) Bon voyage!

  6. We had a nice visit with Evelyne. Yvon is in Barcelona with Cyril on holiday. Irene came to get Evelyne for a family gathering in Normandie so we had lunch with her and then she left. We spent the night, and next morning took the train to Arles. So what kind of present do you want?

    1. Rod, Allen met these folks through my former exchange student, Yvon (1998). We always joke that these adventures (Allen's second sailing trip) come as a result of my hosting Yvon for a year… so, he owes me!

    2. Yeah, I owe brother Rich, he is right. Actually this was my 3rd sailing trip, and my most ambitious adventure. Thanks, Rich.
