The old retired boat in front of the abandoned home in the center of Korfos is named Anna. In the port, just across the street is another boat named George. It belonged to the man who caught the fish we had for dinner.
Well, that's kind of fun to discover "Anna" and "George" in Korfos. Here in Maine, we're having the day of days. We've earned a few hundred of them after this past winter. Yesterday, we went hiking in search of a lost dog. No luck, but it added a bit of excitement to our hike from Black Mountain over Red Hill down into Rumford Center and back. This morning I went up to visit Tommy Ferguson's grave on Sunnyside Terrace. I wrote about him today in the soccer piece I'm composing. I remembered that he had the lower part of his body blown off in Vietnam and then lived for a while. But, his gravestone and the Vietnam Wall online report say that he was injured and died on the same day, That's not my memory of his death, but I was 15 and never paid much attention to the world beyond what affected me directly. Less than a week left for you two--I hope you find some more surprises like "Anna & George."
Great pics!
